PM Subscriber Spotlight: some fancy photos
Photoblogs Magazine subscriber spotlights are chosen randomly from our subscriber list and posted each Monday. If you would like to become a subscriber click here.

Photographer: Jasmin Wong • Web Site: http://some.fancypiece.com/photosLocation: Sydney, Australia; before moving to Sydney for studies I lived in Singapore • Member Since: 03/23/06

PM: How did you get involved in photography?
JW: My aunt bought me a cheap 1.2 megapixel camera and I started snapping random shots. Realised that I have a good eye, and incidentally my father gave me his 30 year old Old Faithful. Started the painful learning curve of photographic exposure, got over it and have never looked back since.
PM: How would you describe your photographic style?
JW:I don't know, seriously! With three years of photography I feel like I'm still finding out my style because it keeps evolving with the experiences a teenager-turned-adult undergoes. The genres I tend to gravitate to are macro, stylistic portrait and still life studies, random street photography, abstraction in perspective and angles.
PM: Why do you photoblog?
JW: I've had a textual weblog for about 6 years. When photography joinedmy interests it seemed natural to set up an online gallery, blog-style.
PM: What are your strengths and weakness as a photographer?
JW: My strength is exploring a subject from different angles until I find something pleasing or intriguing. My greatest weakness is actually the complete opposite - I lack patience and guts for street portraiture.
PM: Which photographer would you like to meet?
JW: My cousin, who's also an avid photographer, introduced me to the work of Annie Leibovitz and I am completely taken with her style and attitude towards portraiture. I'd love to meet her and find out how she climbed her way up, and work with her for a day.
Five Recommended Photoblogs:
Jocund: Sara is a good friend and her work is beautiful
Chromogenic: I'm a longtime admirer of Justin's edgy style
Rion: Rion's photos are rich and very enjoyable
Ferocious Cheese: Nick displays incredible sensitivity in his photos

PM: What is your background, and what are you doing when you are not photoblogging?
JW: I'm an Arts student by day; webdesigner and commisioned photographer
when I conserve what little patience I have to create sites and photographs for others. Pottery and writing are other creative outlets. When I'm not doing anything else I like to take walks and observe people.
