Photographer: Bob Trancho • Web Site: http://www.limitedexposure.netLocation: Saratoga Springs, NY USA • Contact: bob at limitedexposure dot net • Member Since: 07/19/06 • Equipment: Canon 20D - Tamron 28-75 Di, Canon 17-40L, Sigma 70-200 DG, some toy cameras, homemade lenses, etc.
PM: How did you get involved in photography?
BT: I started as a kid with a Brownie, then Instamatics, etc. I left photography behind after high school and then picked it backup again four years ago, deciding to get serious about making good images.
PM: How would you describe your photographic style?
BT: My photos tend to focus on man-made things - buildings, machines, infrastructure; the textures and patterns that lie within; and the process of atrophy and decline. I try to pull images out of these things that one doesn't normally see when they look at them. I favor both urban and rural structures and machines.
PM: Why do you photoblog?
BT: To get feedback and be part of a community.
PM: What are your strengths and weakness as a photographer?
BT: I tend to easily see compositions/colors/textures in mundane things. I'm not comfortable shooting people (or at least approaching them to be photographed).
PM: Where do you see your photography going in the future?
I am pursuing a couple of simultaneous branches in my work right now - a collection that is soft/selective focused, primarily black and white and a collection of macro and closeup images. Each will have its own photoblog eventually. The macro site s up and running at www.acloseupview.com. The soft/selective work is still evolving and, as it involves my using medium format film in addition to digital with homemade and selective focus lenses, I need to do a LOT more work in that area before I feel my images will be ready for prime-time.

PM: What is your background, and what are you doing when you are not photoblogging?
BT: I was a teacher, then a computer administrator for schools. I worked for an organization that provided tech services, planning and implementation to many school districts, directing the technical and training staff. Eventually I went to work for a single school district for several years, helping to develop the use of technology in their classrooms and offices. Currently I do some consulting and concentrate on my photography.
